Recently Sarah Palin on twitter calls on Peaceful Muslims New Yorkers, pls refudiate (later changed to refute) the Ground Zero mosque plan if you believe catastrophic pain caused @ Twin Towers’ site is too raw, too real….. (This implies that people who propose to build mosque are not peaceful.)
Tea Party leader Mark Williams said “The animals of allah for whom any day is a great day for a massacre are drooling over the positive response that they are getting from New York City officials over a proposal to build a 13 story monument to the 9/11 Muslims who hijacked those 4 airliners. The monument would consist of a Mosque for the worship of the terrorists' monkey-god and a "cultural center" to propagandize for the extermination of all things not approved by their cult.”
It is noteworthy that there is no proposal for a mosque at ground zero. Muslims want to build a community center few blocks from WTC ground zero. This community center will include swimming pool, sports room, convention rooms and a prayer room.
Republican and right wing activists continue to show their intolerance and hatred towards muslims. NewYorkPost (a subsidiary of FOX News, owned by Rupert Murdoch) has repeatedly implied that muslims are terrorists. There are increasing oppositions to building of mosques in different parts of USA.
There are clearly many terrorist organizations who claim to be muslims. I however sincerely believe that generally Muslims are peace loving. Terrorism has no role in Islam. All the teachings of Prophet and Quran clearly denounce killings of innocent people. Anybody attacking non-combatant, innocent civilians is either not Muslim or a misguided Muslim. I am still struggling with the news that muslim organization launched an attack on a Ahmedi mosque in Lahore. It is repeatedly told in Quran to prostrate, or bow down with the people who are prostrating in prayer. People who were praying to God regardless of their belief were better than those who were not praying. In my opinion those savage attackers of the mosque in Lahore were worse than non-believers.
It is necessary for us to clearly and unequivocally denounce all terrorism and to educate our fellow Americans about Islam. It is interesting that it is only the politically right wing group which repeatedly shows intolerance towards all, but white Christians. _________________ Nadeem |
